It also included a swimming pool / spa area, cinema and private living quarters.

The Priory Approach

We worked closely with the contractor and design team to ensure the services and systems were installed to the highest level of performance and quality. A significant part of this project was the installation of a CHP system

The CHP system was designed to provide the development with heat and electricity while reducing long-term energy usage.

We installed the CHP unit in a bespoke acoustic enclosure to allow the heat and electrical outputs to serve the site’s heating and electricity distribution systems. Although the building owners did not wish to export electricity from the site, we installed G59 protection relays for parallel synchronous operation with mains electricity. The CHP system was sized to meet the domestic hot water load. When there is no heating demand it will charge buffer vessels to extend its operating time to allow the CHP unit to act as the lead heat source.

The end result shows how successfully sustainable initiatives can work in parallel with luxury and high-end finishes to reduce the property’s carbon footprint and annual running costs.
